Growing up everyone I knew wanted to be famous, a star actor on the red carpet like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Now the line of fame has become blurred with the exceeding popularity of social media and content creators. Little girls and boys want to be more like Addison Rae and Noah Beck than any actor or singer. Why?

What makes Influencing so enticing to so many people?
“More than half of young people want to be influencers, 57%, to be exact.”
Self-expression and creativity

So much of what the world teaches us when we are young is that hobbies are just that, a side quest done outside of our 9-5s. Content Creation flips that idea on its head. If you have a passion in art, sports, make up, fashion, music, comedy and so many other areas, social media has now not only given people an outlet to share and grow a community but also to gain monetary value for it. When that little girl says she wants to be a famous singer, now that dream isn’t as far away as it once was.
Building a community
Like I said previously, people now have this avenue to build a community. Mark Zuckerberg invented Facebook as a way to connect people with people, and that is exactly what is happening now. Arguable covid year 2020, was the second big boom of social media, but this time it has grown and evolved beyond what people could have imagined. Communities of like-minded people coming together to support one another and also communities for people to feel less alone. It’s part of our human nature to crave companionship. There are little kids looking up to people who now look like them and are proud of it. We as a society are not begging Hollywood as much to be inclusive because content creators are filling that gap for role models.

Being able to impact the world is huge, and rarely thought possible until social media but information moves at the speed of light and that creates movements. Now seeing is believing, people across the world can be connected to news from other countries and world events. This truly is the information age and with that comes more influence and impact. If Taylor Swift can bring down the price of eggs, anything is possible.
Potential for financial independence
In 2025, any way to make money is something worth trying, especially for young adults and teens. Instead of trying to find a job in the current market, social media gives them the potential to put their money making in their own hands and not be dependent on anyone else.
Independence and flexible work
Generation Z wants to see the world, not sit in a cubicle all day. Only being dependent on yourself means you decide your schedule and vacation time. Not having to say, ‘ sorry I can’t have work,’ is a luxury that more and more people can experience.
In reality, content creation provides a dynamic space for people of all backgrounds to creative, socialize, and grow.
How to Start?
- Find Your Niche and Define Your Audience:

Figure out what you’re passionate about and use that to create your overarching theme and who you are ultimately trying to reach. If you want to try on hauls, what’s going to make you special?
2. Develop a Content Strategy:
First offset short term and long term goals, and remember this is all in pencil nothing is set in stone. Once you know what you want to do, decide the content type, whether that be blog posts, videos, social media updates, podcasts or so much more.
3. Create a Calendar:

This is not school anymore, nobody is going to give you homework and tell you when something is due. You must do that yourself. A good way to stay organized is by setting a content calendar. Make sure to research when the best time to post is and work around that.
4. Create Compelling Content:
Now comes the fun part, prepping and executing the content. Whether that be recording a podcast or writing a blog, this is where the magic is made. Make sure everything looks the way you want it to. Then post it!
5. Build Your Audience:
Now it’s out there for the world to see, so you have to tell everybody. As a content creator you have to stay at the top of people’s minds at all times. Which means posting about your post and marketing yourself whenever possible.
After knowing all this, do you still want to be a content creator?
